Johnny ST Tai - Dance of the Dragonfly

I remember when I was young and filled with my childish fancies
I used to daydream at the edge of the pond
Dreaming of the things I knew I would accomplish one day
How great I would be

There were dragonflies dancing among the lilies and reeds
Soaring so care-free beneath a summer sky
They were all my friends, heroes in my own fantasy
And then I woke up and my dragonflies were gone

And now I find my self in a world of my own making
Working from seven to 4 just to feed my self
I cannot help but wonder where are all my heroes now

And now I'm all grown up, and my dreams far away
Oh how I wish that I can see my dragonflies again
And now I'm all grown up and the world's not the same
Oh how I wished that I could join the dragonflies dance

I remember reaching out and catching one of them in my hand
Wanting only to feel some magic
Looking down, I saw its mysterious crystalline eyes
Looking back at me

And then the dragonfly whispered softly into my heart
"Treasure every second while you're young"
Looking down at my little friend I opened my hand
And then I wept as my dream flew away

And now I find myself in a world that's ever changing
Trying to keep up, but always left behind
I cannot help but wonder just where have I gone wrong

And now I'm all grown up, and my dreams far away
Oh how I wish that I can see my dragonflies again
And now I'm all grown up and the world's not the same
Oh how I wished that I could join the dragonflies dance

And now we're all grown up, and our time's past us by
Oh how I wish that I can see my dragonflies again
And now we're all grown up, and the dream's left behind
Oh how I wished that I could join the dragonflies dance
