Rachel Tan - Dancing on Rooftops
Lying awake in the middle of the night
My mind won't go to sleep
Grand ideas and fantasies
Swirling in my head and keeping me awake
How am I supposed to sleep
When the stars outside beckon me
I leap from my bed, run up the stairs
Step outside and breathe the cold, crisp air
Dancing on rooftops, toeing the edge
And I wonder what it would be like to skydive instead
Galaxies swirl above me
And the earth is far below
Leaping off rooftops, finally I'm free
And there's nothing anyone could do to try and stop me
I look down at the ground far below
Then reach up to the stars and fly
The next day I can't concentrate on anything
My mind keeps reliving my frolic with the stars
Look up and dance with us, they seem to say
And I can't wait for dusk at the end of the day
How am I supposed to sleep
When the stars outside beckon me
I leap from my bed, run up the stairs
Step outside and breathe the cold, crisp air
Dancing on rooftops, toeing the edge
And I wonder what it would be like to skydive instead
Galaxies swirl above me
And the earth is far below
Leaping off rooftops, finally I'm free
And there's nothing anyone could do to try and stop me
I look down at the ground far below
Then reach up to the stars and fly
And fly
Oh, and fly
Oh, and fly
Oh ah
Dancing on rooftops, toeing the edge
And I wonder what it would be like to skydive instead
Galaxies swirl above me
And the earth is far below
Leaping off rooftops, finally I'm free
And there's nothing anyone could do to try and stop me
I look down at the ground far below
Then reach up to the stars and fly
