LaToya Renea - Divertimento (feat. Brent Birckhead)

The term Divertimento was first used in 1823
And referred to as an instrumental chamber work in several movements
Usually light in character
There was a time in my life in which music
From the classical and romantic periods moved me as an artist
I heard a Mozart Divertimento and I wanted to create a secular lighthearted work
Two things that didn't come natural in my storytelling
I was fearless in creating then
And I wanted to release a project called Divertimento
That was over a decade ago
Little did I know there was another definition of the term divertimento
That made sense to my journey
The history and etymology for Divertimento in Italian
Is literally diversion from divertire which means to divert or amuse
What happens to songs diverted?
Storytelling distracted by rules
Fears
Well the storyteller reaches back
Tells the diverted story to prepare the listeners for more
I have encountered many diversions from within and without
Amusements of all shapes and colors gave birth to the words you are about to hear
From a voice and instruments recorded over a decade ago
Take this journey with me
Here's my Divertimento
