Albert York - Dragon's Land

In the cold and windy hills that divide us from the sea
From the valleys wide and fertile and as far as I can see
Comes a tale as old as mountains that passed from hand to hand
The story of the ancient dragon's land

Our tale starts with English kings from centuries ago
Stealing native farmlands as they battle for the throne
They conquer where they tread as they chase the setting sun
Oh king, you do not know what's yet to come

For the land, it has a secret force that slumbers deep within
The dragon rises from the ground to cleanse unholy sin
Her flaming skin erupts in rage as they try to take her world
She cries in pain as her rusty wings uncurl

Her horrid screams bring death to creatures deemed to not belong
All England's children breathe their last as they hear that fatal song
And those who still remain alive will perish in due time
For the fires burn the harvest for the crime

And so the dragon's burden has befallen all the land
She returns to rest for now there is just wind and rain and sand
But centuries have passed, we've ignored what lies so deep
We must try to not disturb the demon's sleep

In the cold and windy hills that divide us from the sea
From the valleys wide and fertile and as far as I can see
Comes a tale as old as mountains that passed from hand to hand
The story of the ancient dragon's land
