The Part-Time Poets - Dresses

Casino, that's where it's staged
And cards are typically a man's game
But White's dealin' tonight and she's dealing in lives
Red walks up to the table and picks her favorite guy
Fortune favors the bold and the girls are the bold tonight
Money, what these men crave
Their lives are burnin' fast as their ashtrays
But one lucky punk's rollin', with his face-up Ace
And the second one wearin' a crown
With Red's hands on his shoulders, no one's ever gonna cut him down

Lady in red dress, lady in white
Who remembers all the losses in hindsight?
Dress to impress girls, Dress to entice
Roll a seven or eleven for two tens tonight

Pass or play, lose or win,
But our friend's lookin to cash in
He says "Deal me in, White 'Cause I'm feelin alright
I bit off more than I could chew, but really I want you
And the way you got me goin' makes me wonder what you're doin' tonight?"
Drinkin' booze and chasing skirts
"Don't be a prude, this ain't church"
But Red's seen enough of this particular man
With a flash from her pocket and quicker than sand
With a wink of her eye, he drew a dead man's hand

Lady in red dress, lady in white
Who remembers all the losses in hindsight?
Dress to impress girls, Dress to entice
Roll a seven or eleven for two tens tonight

Step backwards, walk into an open room
I scent the smell of cigarettes and this B.O.D fumes
Striking at me like I'm ready to fight
And I might spot a pretty girl that I could hold for the night
Felling lucky looking for my lady in red
No Chris Deburgh, but I'm ready to dance
Through tables, lady luck can follow me too
Don't want a white dress, she might turn her back on you
If you play the cards right with the hands you're dealt
You may be the lucky guy that makes the girl's hearts melt
Feeling lucky when you got the red on your side
She's like a devil wears Prada on a hell of a ride
But you gotta nothing is what it seems
Got a gleam in your eyes but keep ignoring the means
Then surprise, you stare into the eyes of a snake
And find that lady luck ain't with you when you're sealing your fate

Lady in red dress, lady in white
Who remembers all the losses in hindsight?
Dress to impress girls, Dress to entice
Roll a seven or eleven for two tens tonight

Lesson, if you try to fuck with fate
Lady Luck will down you in an instant
Momma always told me gamblin' was a sin
If you play with Luck and Fortune then you never will win
