More Haste, Less Speed - Every Place

I know this kid
Strong enough to get out of his house
Tryna build a better album than the last he put out
Making the landscape feel relaxing but not too chill
He wants to lay in the grass finally peaceful and still
But in your youth the great challenge is to craft and create
Don't get complacent or grow up and look back like too late
Don't make decisions for happiness that cost later pain
Elevate yourself don't trust anyone who can explain
I'm thinking 'bout him still drawing side of the homework
Standing still when the other kids say he moves slower
Tracing small shapes in the sky with his hand
Thinking when I grow up I'm sure I'll understand

I knew this kid
Who ran away from something he had never seen
To find a version of himself he'd never met or even dreamed
But after stumbling through the dark and scraping every little stone
He found a version of his heart where weeds had yet to grow
Within that garden he was guarding something greener than dough
And tho he knew it takes awhile man the process is slow
Cause self-improvement's not a hobby or a burden it's a task
And you have to do something wrong so you can have a past
That kid is still a novice building up a tiny home
Unlike the one he left but bearing some resemblance he knows
Insulate the walls with stronger love so when it snows
He keeps the fire burning doesn't matter how the wind blows
