Patrick Storer - Fireflies

Fireflies
Lighting up the night
Catch them in your hand
Hold on to their light
Yet should it fade away
You held your glass of borrowed time
I left you
Listening to you cry
Standing in the doorway
Our hearts was breaking
Now I'm all alone without you
Lying on the floor
I never think about you
Except when I'm washed up at your door
Where I sit burning in the night
Wanting you like before
It's been years and still
I don't know who I am
I drift through the days while
Time slips through my hands
Yet something's telling me
One day I'll understand
By one soft-lit memory
Just to get us through the dark
We'll learn to walk that midnight way
And remember who we are
Tired of chasing after youth
Not too old to start anew
If I learn one thing before I die
I won't learn it holding on to you
Now I understand
To look love in the eye
Is just to have no fear
To ever lose the light
Of fireflies
Lighting up the night
Catch them in your hand
Hold on to their light
Yet should it fade away
You held your glass of borrowed time
