Sammy Campione - Gardener's Tale

The Gardener tended her forest
Many generations ago
Legends and lore about Tanglewood's start
The story you already know

But parts of those tales were forgotten
How the spores of my sister took hold
All her creatures mutated, conflated, dictated
By her as their will she controlled

My sister never had my gifts
She had her own
I guess I didn't see how jealous she was of my forest
When she tried to make her own, she wanted too much power over them
They turned out as corrupted and deformed versions of themselves, barely recognizable as the animals they were before
But not even having her own twisted forest was enough
She grew even more jealous and tried to take some of my creatures to infect with her powers and take all the beauty that she coveted
I couldn't let that happen
I-I had to-

I protected my forest!
Finished what had to be done
forced to destroy the abomination horde
If her ruthless war was to be won

I could not afford any mercy
What evel tricks they might try
I wouldn't risk letting a single one free
All of them, had to-

I don't like thinking about it
I wish there had been another way
But facing Vennona was a different matter
I could never bring myself to harm her
I banished her and hoped one day she would forgive me for what she forced me to do
But now, I fear she has devised some new scheme
