Ryan Sweezey - God's Country (Miramichi)

In God's country there's a place
That brings a smile to my face
Where the winding river flows out into the bay
And all the people go their own merry way
Cruising for two-fifty on the mighty Miramichi
Out here on a sailboat ten times as big as me
Plowing through the waves, going in with the tide
But I'm behind the wheel so it's one hell of a crazy ride
Looking through old pictures, learning 'bout the past
Searching for the arrows up there on the mast
And watch for mortar cannonballs aimed at that strip of land
At Point aux Carr watch the sun set on the water and sand
Going down to the camp watching out for bears and deer
Always wary of the wildlife so near
Life seems so much simpler living day to day
The sun peeks out on through the clouds and you can spot each ray
Nana called it God's country
She's from way up there
See the purity of the earth, the water, and the air
Walking down through Chatham, got no place to go
Walk along the riverside, the water ebbs and flows
Memories of the summer days
Before folks went their separate ways
The Miramichi flows without restraint
Out into the bay
Nana called it God's country
She's from way up there
See the purity of the earth, the water, and the air
