Sharks Crossing - Goodnight

She's had a ball at the dancing hall
But now it's time to leave
She asks her man if he will accompany her to her front door
He says "Yes, it will be my pleasure! Perhaps we'll find time for a drink?"
He hears her gasp and then she laughs, to give herself some time to think
You see, she's been a good girl all of her life
And she still wants to stay out of strife
So she says "Maybe - In any case baby I've had a real good night"

Goodnight, goodnight, everything is all right
Don't want to spoil this lovely night

He gets her home by twelve o' clock
It's later than she wanted it to be
And she almost starts to shout coz her mama's locked her out
What an unusual sort of mama she must be
Most mamas want 'em home by ten on the dot
To sort of lower the chances on the old hanky pank
But this one's turned about
Since she found out he's got a million dollars in the bank
If her daughter snares him (Mama has reasoned) they'll both have mama to thank
So she's locked the door real tight and she hopes they have a special kind of night

Goodnight, goodnight, checks the windows - Not a light
Good girl starts to get a fright

She turns to her man, as determined as she can
She says "I think I'll call to mama on the phone"
But he says "No, listen - I've got a place that we can go
If you don't mind us being alone"
She floundered 'round for words till she finally heard herself saying "All right! Let's go"
She took his hand thinking 'maidenhood be damned'
Not long after they reached his home
And how that lady's heart began to sing when he showed her a guest-room and a ring
She didn't think she heard right as he said "See you in the morning - Goodnight"

She said: "Make it a good night! Stay with me! Hold me tight
You can do just what you like. Give me what I need tonight"

Goodnight, goodnight, everything is all right
Goodnight, goodnight, everything is out of sight
