TurtleFrogMan - He Went By the Nickname of Buddy

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Would never refuse a request
To boil crawfish for his family and friends

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Led a life that tells a helluva story
But today is the day that it ends

He Was the only son of Peggy and Louis
A young couple once happily married
Was born and raised and died right here in Shreveport
And today it will be where he's buried
As a young boy he tended livestock and horses
And came runnin when his mom or dad beckoned
Grew up to be a man's man who learned all that he knew
From his father, Louis Mowry the second

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Would never refuse a request
To boil crawfish for his family and friends

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Led a life that tells a helluva story
But today is the day that it ends

He Was recruited in high school to play college football
And opportunities like that are scant
Blew his knee out in a game, kissed his college goodbye
And went to work in a meat packing plant
He Was the driver in a terrible car crash
A young lady died in that wreck
He Wore the guilt of that crash like a boat anchor
That He carried around on his neck

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Would never refuse a request
To boil crawfish for his family and friends

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Led a life that tells a helluva story
But today is the day that it ends

He Found his calling in the business of liquor
He paid his bills and raised a family off it
Was like a fox put in charge of the hen house
He was known to drink a lot of his profit
He Was the grand poobah down at the elks lodge
It's a tough job, you have to respect it
Liked to gamble on football, in fact he still owes me money
But I suppose it's too late to collect it

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Would never refuse a request
To boil crawfish for his family and friends

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Led a life that tells a helluva story
But today is the day that it ends

He Was a massive man with big hands and biceps
His physique was a source of much pride
Was not a man that you wanted to mess with
I endeavored to stay on his good side.
He could hunt, he could fish, build a deck, drive a boat
He was at home on land or on water.
He's survived by his wife, his father, two sisters
And Brittany, his beautiful daughter

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Would never refuse a request
To boil crawfish for his family and friends

Louis E Mowry the third
Who went by the nickname of Buddy
Led a life that tells a helluva story
But today is the day that it ends

Five years ago they discovered his cancer
They give him 6 months to live at the most
It ate away at him slowly for five torturous years
Until he finally gave up the ghost.
But Let's remember him strong as a bull ox
He'd bring a big pot of crawfish to boil
And let's remember our journeys have the same destination
We're all going to back to the soil
