Saint Soldier - Heal

These days I count my blessings
By that I mean like first thing, immersing
Like every single morning
Matter of fact, I write em down by the dozens
And I don't judge em if they're repetitive or corny
Matter of fact, I write a whole lotta nada
But still I gotta, I can't just let it bottle up
And I don't share that shit with no one
That's all different from these poems
These are offerings I leave for you to gobble up
Gotta love every single struggle and conflict that made me
And if I don't, God himself couldn't save me
Lately, I've been digging into my own childhood
First memory was hiding from me, a wild one
Spare you the details, that shit would derail
Any 4 year old kid who could barely buckle a seatbelt
But now I've learned that the mind ages memories like wine
In an effort to protect us from the pain through the times
Time brings suffering, and suffering is growth
But the growth don't come if you're tripping in the smoke
When the past has both hands gripping on your throat
But you wear a fake smile while you're flippin' on the low

Heal
Take the time to understand why you respond
with this emotion
When was the first time
That you can remember that you experienced
This emotion

Visit that time
Forgive that time
Forgive those who hurt you
So you can stop carrying that hurt
So you can be you again
That child
Who was told not to be

Thank you for listening to The Way of The Artist
Big shoutout to Julia Cameron for inspiring me
And the Bassment Studios for having my back throughout the years
My wife, my brother, my parents, my family, my friends
Who all support me
Thank you to my teachers who show me the way
And above all
Thank you God
