Sunday Afternoon - Hey Autumn

Falling faster all the time
The Beautiful Day and I
Had a change of color hoping you would notice first
But the point it drifted hopelessly behind

You're so much like Autumn
Those lazy days so wrapped up in orange
When white moons hung low welcoming the night
And in my head, it was you I did hold

The subtle flaws of your skin
Like leaves just wanting more time
Withering, no... That's not what I'm saying
Imperfections what I cherish as mine

Behind the stars I have memorized
And past the sun I wouldn't see
Never had the nerve to even ask
Do you think you could have ever loved me?

So Autumn, it's me again
Another poem in my head
Another one will come tomorrow
In hopes you hear what I've said
Never change your color
I'll be here when you call
A sudden chill of winter
Could have died, well, in that fall

Hey Autumn
