Ralph Keefer - Hood Point 1% Blues

Flying home from Bangkok when Clive spread the word
Said we'd bought a piece of the rock
We live in West Van, you know, near Sarah McLachlan
But the summers are soooo crowded and hot
All of Clive's family's been goin' for years
Hood Pointers, blue, through and through
So it's back to our roots, and those summer commutes
And the Hood Point 1% blues

I got the Hood Point 1% blues
The caretaker's gone on a cruise
The gardeners came, but drank all the booze
I got the Hood Point 1% blues

Summer is here and it's off to the shack
Well, that's what it was when we bought
I redid the kitchen and added a wing
Seemed big at the time so I thought!
But with kids in the bunkhouse, and screams from the dock
I've nearly gone over the brink
Life in the 'hood isn't always as good
As you 99 percenters might think

Pilates at 10, and tennis at 12
Then spinning with Joan and Chantelle
Bridge club at 5, then dinner with Clive
Scarcely time for myself!
The filter broke down last Tuesday night
Someone probably peed in the pool
The stress is so great, I'll probably break
Life in the 'hood can be cruel

I fired the nanny last Monday
Apparently she forgot the dill!
I had tai chi that day, then once around the bay
Just another week in Labradoodle-ville
We leave for the desert on Sunday
Palm Springs is so freaking hot
I'd choose Maui instead, but our place there I dread
Its soooo big, you forget what you brought!
