Cosgrove Rushing - Hot Rod Frank

Well once upon a time not long ago
I was hangin' at the Austin rodeo
When my good buddy said come on, I'll buy you a beer
There's a honky-tonk joint not a half a mile from here
Well we got inside and we settled in
There was a Texas band playin' Texas swing
Singin' "Bob Wills" but it sounded like "Asleep At The Wheel"
You know the Texas folk love the sound of a fiddle and steel
Well the door flew open in walked a man
A guitar on his back and an amp in his hand
Said I'm new in town and wonder if you'd let me sit in
He said my name is Frank but I'm "Hot Rod" to my friends
Go Frank go
Well the band leader said that's pretty slick
What else have you got in your bag-o-tricks
Franky flipped him a grin as he walked toward center stage
And then the joint started jumpin' when Franky begins to play
Go Frank go
Now everybody knows 'ol hot rods name
Since he walked in things sure have changed
The other bands gone but nobody seems to complain
When Franky starts rockin' the joint just goes insane
Go Frank go
