The God Hour - Hymn

Take me higher
In my dark days you were my fire
I'm imperfect, you I desire
Nobody but you God
Nobody but you God

Lord I come to you a broken man, pieces of me I'm trying to find
But understand I can't be complete without the Divine
I am double minded living with vengeance on my mind, lust in my heart, soul full of pride
I am discombobulated, pretending I got it faded
When really I'm in the matrix, looking for neo to save it, and then it's you
Man will fail me every time, but every time I touch your hymn I feel alive
So if I gotta scratch, gotta fight, I gotta die
Just to touch your hem, I'll do whatever is required
This life is suicide, so daily I gotta die, just to see the sun shine, with this enormous light of mine
I'm trying to find my way, get my mind replaced no time to waste
Detour if it's not your way, I been living like I ain't feeling convicted
Forgive me I should be about my father's business, but I need your hymn

When I'm lost you take me higher
In my dark days you were my fire
I'm imperfect you I desired
Nobody but you God
Nobody but you God

Losing my mother was the hardest day. I keep thinking of Marvin Gaye
That famous song, "what's going on"
Within the winter, 12/26 being a day I'll never forget
Day after Christmas had a second gift
And the present was unexpected, killing me softly by just reflecting, imagine finding your mother dead
It's total turmoil in my head, I'm silently crying within my bed, knowing Mom I'll never see again
But then again through hard times, those were the moments I found God
Soul minder of every broken heart
He took pain to bring change, and then rearrange my mind frame
Don't tell me power ain't in his name
For I was lost but not again and I found more love than any friend
And any kin, existing within the world we in, It's only Him, day that we live we suffer grim
But never will I forget the hymn. I gotta have his hem

When I'm lost you take me higher
In my dark days you were my fire
I'm imperfect you I desired
Nobody but you God
Nobody but you God

God is asking me to purge but I'm deaf and dumb to every single word
Cancer got my mamas body in a state of constant hurt
Daddy gone, two years old, but the tell me carry on, moving on
I've been feeling like an amputee soul
Cause a part of me had died and I never got to know him
Please hold him, somebody help me with these phantom pains, these metal gears in my mind
Have rusted all into shame, can't maintain
I'm looking at all my demons and pointing out who's the blame
I'm loving on all my people who rather see me in pain or buried in chains
These people foul, call you leader and crucify your flesh
And then they turn in your soul to ether
God I'm on your altar, can you help me your son is bleeding
You're the only one that understands that my love is leaving
Receding, to hell, this mental cell, I'll prevail
Even when I choke, stumble and fell
You're the reason that I look up to the sky when I'm

When I'm lost you take me higher
In my dark days you were my fire
I'm imperfect you I desired
Nobody but you God
Nobody but you God

I Worship you
When I'm lost, you take me higher
In my dark days, you were my fire
