J Magnus - In Time

See I could tell you about the places that I be at
And the memories I bring back
All the pats on my back and how I nonchalant react
How my friends think I'm a star and how they often play me back
All the love that I've been shown and how I plan to pay it back
Religious stare at the moon and how I see myself in that
Days with only half to give and I would still give you that
I still give you that, I would never hold anything back
See I could cry about my lack
Or I could sell it, make a stack
Couldn't tell you about flipping packs
But I could flip a couple of samples
Add some drums and make a track
Like I was VMA Kanye, snatch the mic and spit some facts
How it used to be so pure but now I need 'em to react
And that is my drug in fact
My shame filled battery pack and it's dangers that I attract
That not strangely still attack
Oh I'm barely still intact
My higher self interact, intervenes but is out of touch
Clipped his wings in a rush, reality can be harsh
Rough
Yeah
I wear my heart on my sleeve
I meditate on melodies and put these beats on repeat
I reach, the depths of my soul and I hope they repeat
Deep immaculate speech when I put this pen to this sheet
A blessed hand and its young handler
In the absence of light a candle
In the form of this young handsome, gifted and non standard
That often wanders, abandoned ideal and safe for canvas
Anticipating the pan out to be everything that I planned out
The sky is the limit
But the moon is where I've landed, I'm powerful beyond imagining
A vessel for this higher power that I have been tasked with channelling
Beyond mere mortal challenges
But my soul is my talisman
And my goals are all valid
I've been chosen since Adam and Eve walked
Though kings and queens
Swords, through the guillotine and wars
And my people being bought
To this freedom or so we thought
The modern media poison
I'm Magnus, I am chosen
Yeah
In a story as old as time
The underdog about to retire finds his spark
And his fire is reignited
He survives another night in the wild
He wakes, he thought he'd die
Overnight his stars aligned
Tears run down from his eyes
Cheeks stained, oh but his smile centre stage
And for a while
Can't help but dance around on the earth, the dirt, the ground
And words he's yet to find to expound the joy he's found
He worked and with a smile for years
And many a time for no perks
But looks at God
It was worth the nights he cried
And the mornings he woke up tired
But an off day couldn't fly
And often he'd recite in the mirror for his inner child
The words he had written down
Should the day finally come
Where his work is recognized
And that gold coveted prize is awarded in front of thousands
Ovation, the whole crowd on their feet and he bows
Gives thanks, looks at the sky
And his story is complete now
Yeah
