John Lowell Anderson - In The Meantime

For some time, we watched the planes fly
Above our heads, in the glow of traffic lights
You’re leaving, for a couple months again
Keep my eyes on the road, else the moment wins

For some rhymes, I can hold it tight
Inside my chest, to say what needs to be said
But after long, it pours out of my hands
Feels like holy water, if I had to guess

Some nights, I think you might still be here
Under the sheets, carefully watching me
But after a little, I wake up from my dream
In the cold morning, light is the thief.

And I realize, everything is out of reach
Till the sunrise, but I still can’t fall asleep
One more try, I look for the signs
In the meantime
