nickwuh - It's in the Writing

Waking up again to see the sun still hasn't risen
Been staying up these past few weeks
I swear I'm catching up on sleep tonight

I know I haven't had much time for you these days
I'm busy procrastinating, wasting my life away

I can't decide if I want to run away
I think my legs would give in
But how else would I escape?

Maybe I find inspiration
But I still can't find the light switch in the dark
Following candle lights home every night
It's straining to my eyes
And what if I'm the writer of my own life
I'd regret every misspelling I can't rewrite
For every wrong word said
I'll drop my pen again and again and again

Waking up again to see the clouds still haven't parted
The clock is always ticking
But I'm getting better at standing still

The narrator keeps on pointing out my mistakes
It's getting harder and harder to ignore it everyday

Maybe I find inspiration
But I still can't find the light switch in the dark
Following candle lights home every night
It's straining to my eyes
And what if I'm the writer of my own life
I'd regret every misspelling I can't rewrite
For every wrong word said
I'll drop my pen again and again and again

The moral of this story's here
I've succeeded in being a failure
Burning pages, but I'm not sure
If it comes in stages, maybe I won't hate this someday

So what if I find inspiration
But I still can't find the goddamn switch in the dark
With nothing to guide me but the matchstick's light
And the flame always dies
Why am I the writer of my own life?
You could take my place and you'd do more right
For every wrong road tread
I'll break my knees again and again and again

So what if I have dedication?
I still can't find satisfaction in this art
Standing like a deer in the headlights
It only blinds my eyes
I'll carve my point in with a butcher knife
That you could do so much more with my life
For every wrong note sung
I'll scream my lungs until my voice is gone
