Dark Roast - Living the Dream

I woke up late one morning with a pain inside my head
Oblivion was out of reach so I stumbled out of bed
I'd grown an extra leg that begged for an understanding touch
Her snarl of contempt a hint it was not to be as such
She asked me where I'd been last night but my answer came too slow
She coldly said "you lying shit just pack your thing and go"

I woke up at a concert, I found myself onstage
John, Paul, George and Ringo watched, the walrus seemed quite sage
The first groove was a mile wide then I stepped up to sing
I tripped on my guitar cord then I fell and broke a string
A girl that had been smiling in that sweet suggestive way
She looked at John, he shook his head, they turned and walked away

Living the dream... Despite the nightmare awake inside
Swimming upstream... Use your head when your hands are tied
Don't worry...though your soul may be bleeding
Don't panic... When you know that the sharks are feeding

Time is very fleeting, and the circumstance adverse
But it's never quite so bad that it can't get even worse
Consumed with your frustration yes, the madness is the crime
And it will all be over soon, and you will miss this time

I woke up in an office, I was asking for a job
A bloody ooze between my legs as i faced the corporate slob
Diplomas and experience, I surely qualified
His smile said he clearly thought I'd make a better bride
Went home in search of sympathy, but there I found instead
The beast already had two backs I wished that I was dead
