Vold Book - Melencolia & I

Such an instant connection
Dancing with her now
Melencolia & I, a ghostly twirl
With our backs to the gray dawn
So vacant, unimpressed

I can feel this life slipping away
Every time she pulls me in
Her cold embrace
Feeling her porcelain arms
At rest, upon my shoulders
Spinning slowly, spiraling
In the depths of our sadness
Melencolia & I, we were made for each other
Like the bottom of the sea, and a stone
And a chain

I want to tell her leave me be
But now I have someone
To call my own

Melencolia
You weave such a thorough web
I could lose myself forever here
If we could only be together
But for the phantom that you are
You're everywhere
In shades of black and white
Defying hope and settling your grim affairs
Melencolia & I, in our waltz to the very end

She lifts her arm, wilting and frail
Caressing my cheek with the back of her hand
Her kiss of poison commands my heart
So that I'd want her no other way
Cold lips, purple and blue
I pull her near to feel death upon my frame
This isn't a game, I know it so well: a marionette on strings
The puppetmaster grins just out of reach in the dark
How I long to be near her in that nihilistic heaven
Make me forget, make me forget everything
And I will be yours now
I would belong to her
Forever

Such is the dance of life itself
And as the clock strikes twelve she fades away from me
I am left alone with Misery, the inconsolable one
Twin sisters, like doppelgangers
Pulling me further down the path
I am led to where I do not want to go
Back into the world; it is morning
So bright and full of light; in darkness I belong
Spinning my songs, in darkness with Melencolia

Where did she go

She roams the dawn of time
Grieving for love, grappling for the divine
But everything she sees she defines as mundane
Drowning in the emptiness of solitary pain
She is the sea, that swallows my poor heart
She is a star, surrounded by the night
Dim with tears, and supple skin
It's her elegance that draws me in
She was designed to do me in
And so she will; and so she is
And so she did

Such an instant connection
Dancing with her now
Melencolia & I, in our grave trance
With our backs to the dawn of this room
Both so vacant, and used
Like we were made for each other
At the bottom of the sea, with a stone
And a chain
