A shadowy kind of science carried out far below
Project Stammerlight was intended to save the world above
They would take a part our darkest fears and leave only love
But something was unleashed in the subjects' minds and it began to grow

10 years ago we brought a nightmare to the world
The interior cities have fallen like stars and we just heard
They've taken the gulf coast and started their march towards Mexico
The havens get smaller as the years drag by and so it goes
