The Christ Epic - Psalm 139

As I wake up to the cool morning air
Cares rule me, lure me
To nervous-thought snares

Down in the shaking of my heart is a plea
It advocates the taking
Of this old disease

Beam of light
Hands from on High

Clouds part. Dawn starts
Its orange light applied.
God, you see me reeling
And voice Your reply

Where else can I go
Where I will not be found
In the shadows of my steps
You'll be with me

I cannot outrun
The moonlight or the sun
And so much less so
Your Spirit who is over all

If darkness should hide me
From eyesight in full
Sunlight in style of candles
Snuff black like coal

You peel back the shadows
Contain safe the void
You say, "Flee," face all fiends
And see them destroyed

My shield and hope
My savior God

You came down, one sound
Brushed demons a-way
Kindness in footsteps
Turned this dark to bright new day

You formed flesh and bone
The lungs and liver sewn
In the secret, deep place
You, You made me

I a m not my own
My ev'ry day was known
Back before I was alive
I was on Your Mind

If I go on up to the Heavens
You are there
If I set my head down
In the deepest lair

If I rise on wings of dawn
If I sail until I'm gone
If the frame of my door
Stands on the furthest sea shore
You are there

The shades shed
Dark's deep dead and
Glow, mirthful bright
I push back the covers
And stand in the light
