K.R.Y.T.I.C. - Remember Me

Shouts to the weather man
It's sunny everyday over here now

Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Remember me when everything starts to look strange
Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Forever I remain trapped in this rhyme page

Cuz like you I was once flesh and blood
Content with not having everything back when less was much
Walked around oozing Hip-Hop like my flesh was cut
A young'un presented with life lessons though the test was up
That was 01' when I started writing raps
Huge brown lyric book, titles was in upper caps
I'd written Such A Beautiful Thing and some other raps
Who knew life would leave a knife scar on my mother's back
When my father died when he was done being some other guy
That pretended to raise me while he made my mother cry
Try to stop the hurt with rap is something that I would try
Cuz I knew that I was here just not to be some other guy
And that was it, that was the difference 'tween them and Tic
That's the reason Zambia adjusts my seat before I sit
It's the reason that I have them all convinced when I spit
I just wanna be the greatest and that's it

Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Remember me when everything starts to look strange
Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Forever I remain trapped in this rhyme page

And we started to record at some place and got kicked out and then studio time was hard to find and I remember sitting outside a studio somewhere and being given ten minutes to record. It wasn't the most pleasant of times but it was part of the process that shaped us I suppose so... I remember that

Now I'm immortalised through these mortal lines
That I sort of rhyme, I've been dope since daddy crossed the border line
And I did it telling a story that's sort of mine
Sort of everybody else's that feels so sublime
I chose to rhyme like Pac and rhyme like Em
Maybe you'd call me great if I rhymed like them
Maybe I could go Diamond if I rhymed like Tehn
Maybe I could fix the world through a rhyme my friend
Maybe I could fix my mom and dad
Maybe I could solve every problem they ever had
Maybe whenever my sister's sad
Maybe I could make her smile with a Victor track
Maybe...hey, maybe
Just maybe I guess
Maybe I could have a shot if they paint me as fresh
Maybe that Grammy is coming, Ticka, maybe you're next
Maybe you might just survive if you play this roulette
So remember me

Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Remember me when everything starts to look strange
Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Forever I remain trapped in this rhyme page

Dreamers anonymous
We try to change the world but they say something is wrong with us
In all of these Andromedas
And milky ways
We pave a silk road with our silky ways
Jah be praised for the clean clothes on our filthy days
Leaves me dazed as I look back to easy days
And I say please behave
Don't get me nostalgic with your cheesy ways
All I wanted was to be sure at least we safe
All I wanted was to say that I rep my damn city
And brother is my brother and my sister's damn pretty
I've been trying to be the best since Naeto hollered Las Giddy
I spent my last fifty trying to be some typr of Diddy
And really the journey was the best part of it
Had to make a song cuz I couldn't text all of it
Now I call the shots jumping off collect call with it
Watch this African boy buy the next car with it

Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Remember me when everything starts to look strange
Remember me, the kid with the odd surname
Under moonlight practice for the ball game
I was just like you up until it all changed
Forever I remain trapped in this rhyme page
