Tanjint Wiggy - Rolled Joints

I used to envy the grizzled journalist with her cigarettes and coffee
Fantasies of extracting information just through talking
Speaking truth to power at the final epic hour
If what you told me soundin' fishy then I probably said it sour
Eddie Bauer, Having remoulade with debutantes
Ear hustlin' at restaurants I'm writing what you said you want
Working shoulder to shoulder with the molders of the culture
Sharin' Folgers with them winter soldiers all before it's over
Like I told you I thought about my prose and editorials
City county world man not all that territorial
But now I pity the grizzled journalist with her cigarettes and coffee
Whose morning eyes won't sympathize simply sayin' raise up off me
Not Khaddafi, just a boring mayor here to cover
Lost and vagrant indigents no secret subject lovers
It ain't TV, SB hella greasy and it's seedy
I would tell a different story friend but that would be deceiving, please believe me

I'd rather post up with some rolled joints
The world needs your voice yeah that's a bold point
Halfway between an envoy and envoy
But give my life to suffering man y'all got the wrong boy

I'd rather post up with some rolled joints
The world needs your voice yeah that's a bold point
Halfway between an envoy and envoy
But give my life to suffering man y'all got the wrong boy

I used to envy the righteous activist with his books and bona fides
So in my early 20s I'd working with my union on my free days
Reaching out to neighbors lettin' em know about the dangers
Of right wingers and the people that would profit off their angles
I occupied I rocked it right I registered young voters
A decoder of the hopeless and the homeless and the smokers
But every year it all comes down to turnout
My peers they talk and burn loud but really just some burnouts
No turn up, they rather talk about then really learn stuff
They talk about they hurtin' so can't share none of the burden
I'd be nervous about the peoples I'm knowin' is most deservin'
Of the benefits that the co-workers in my office be disbursin'
So now I'm workin' to strengthen music for the children afterschool
You shouldn't have to live between the lines I'm seein' that's the rule
So now I pity the righteous activist who's so swallowed by the passion
He's confused his own reaction for a manifested action, please believe me

I'd rather post up with some rolled joints
The world needs your voice yeah that's a bold point
I'm between an envoy and convoy
But give my life to suffering man y'all got the wrong boy

I'd rather post up with some rolled joints
The world needs your voice yeah that's a bold point
Halfway between an envoy and envoy
But give my life to suffering man y'all got the wrong boy
