Dave from Work - September 7th

September 7th
An angel escaping from heaven had just clipped her wings just to live how the humans do
She sees the world as a musical
I express love through my music notes
The cross of our paths was unusual
A silence fell over the city to hear how her voice danced like strings of a symphony
Lord knows, why I look at her differently
Lord knows, why I would give anything if it meant everything to her
You don’t let me get ahead of me, do ya?
They want you back up in heaven, I knew it
Damn
But you’re in too deep and we’ve gone too far
To let them see you fall or watch you lose your cause
Lord knows that the sky’d be dark
Lord knows, if he had no stars
I feel like Martin it came in a dream
That if you departed how I wouldn’t sleep
And if I started counting I’d slaughter the sheep
As the cow jumps the moon just to see me in fleece!
Now I tend to sing my own lullabies
So I can see you through my closing eyes
Can’t focus on life when you’re on my mind
I don’t like sleeping alone
I don’t like feeling like I’ve gotta answer bombardments of questions that plague me like cancer
You know I’m a Scorpio, deadly romantic
I spew out this toxic emotional tangent
And you comprehend it as me losing rational thinking
I think I do better when my world is falling apart and my ship has been sinking!
I have been treading these waters for ages ‘til you came along, pulled me out to the deep end
Now I just pray for your sake I don’t sink in
Now I just pray for our sake we don’t sink in
I don’t think I can last longer while under this pressure
So I’ll hit the road ‘til my head hits a stretcher
Living too fast so my demons can’t catch up
Head underwater the tides have been restless
Now I tend to sing my own lullabies
So I can see you through my closing eyes
Can’t focus on life when you’re on my mind
Now I tend to sing my own lullabies
So I can see you through my closing eyes
See they remind me that the... summer… died
