Blake Gorman - Tenochtitlan

Every single day that ever goes by
You still can see the temples in the sky
And every ounce of blood that laid upon the stone
You still can feel the fear from long ago
From within their island city
To the unknown force that creeps around out there

The sunset in Tenochtitlán
Is a fire of the gods' response
The harvest of this coming year
Is at hand of a human heart

The Aztecs built their home on Lake Texcoco
A prophecy appeared to priests unknown
A thousand men centering the empire
To be closer to the ones who called from above
The pyramids lined the sights
The Spanish came by ship up in the heights

The sunset in Tenochtitlán
Is a fire of the gods' response
The harvest of this coming year
Is at hand of a human heart

Cortés led the way to Montezuma
And conquered all this Mexican land
Cut them down with advancements in artillery
Something that these people have never seen
Now these people are gone
But the history of this land will still live on

The sunset in Tenochtitlán
Is a fire of the gods' response
The harvest of this coming year
Is at hand of the Spanish man
