Pat Fortney - That's When I Lost My Way

My hands are shaking and I feel like a wreck
Can't put my lighter to my cigarette
The sun is blazing and I'm covered in sweat
And I'm not sure how I got here yet

I'm on a park bench; I can barely move
I'm looking around but I have no clue
I don't how why I woke up here today
I guess somehow I lost my way

An angel stops and she lights me up
I take a long drag down deep in my lungs
It goes down easy and I stop to shake
It comes to me how I wound up here today

It's been while since I thought about you
That memory surfaced; it made blue
And that's when I took a deep dive down into
Any bottle that would help me through

I pop the bottom but with no luck
The pack is empty son I wad it up
I toss it in the first bin that I see
I wish I had a smoke to steady me

On my way home; a hangover fright
All because I thought of you last night
While I walk home I have to say
I remember why I lost my way

When we met when I was young and lean
You were sweet and easily pleased
I grew old way too young
Never delivering the promise of

I didn't try; I was happy to coast
But that's not what you needed most
I lost you when I quit that day
And that's when I lost my way
