Kern Ramble - That Train

He quit his job to rest his back
It's been 38 years since that
He pulls out a cigarette and strikes a match
And walks me down a hidden path
That leads to the railroad tracks
Where he can watch trains go past
This is how he spends his time
Not too much different than how I spend my
Waiting for trains to go by
That train don't stop here, that train don't know
That train won't stop here, that train just rolls by
He flicked the ashes to the ground
Took another drag on the cigarette in his mouth
As he cursed his life, and spit it out
He tears open another pack
Twists off the top to a whiskey flask
Tilts his head and throws a shot back
He doesn't flinch like I would have
He figured out how to deal with that
It's just like everything you gotta hold back
That train don't stop here, that train don't know
That train won't stop here, that train just rolls by
