Uncommon Nasa - The Ballad of Metal Mike

Forgive my Ego Trip
But I'm hitting every record label fully dipped
Resumes in hand
The first time that I met this man
Stepping out of a shadow from behind a magazine, tatts on his hands
Not sure whether I was a fan
But I knew that he would understand my aspirations and plan
To glad hand
By pounding out pavement to sand
He wished me luck, knowing better
Pointed me up to TVTBlunt but I'm returned to sender
Pouring rain is my days ender
But I met a homeless dude who's reviews passed editors

The first time I met Metal Mike I was 17
Full of dreams
The first time I met Metal Mike, head full of steam
By any means

Now I'm 19, suit and tie guy
Lunch time at Rector
Street, but tame
Metal Mike the same
The interceptor, separate you from your wallet
Me? I could keep my twelve dollars
I save my games for all these lames
He looked around and said I was cool
Asked about school
Told me not to fool
Around, and keep after the music
If you stay down here too long you're gonna lose it!
I knew I would pursue it
And that my time downtown was just a minor intrusion

The second time I met Metal Mike I was 19
In a momentary scene
The second time I met Metal Mike, I let his words gleen
I was a music fiend

Years later, in Chelsea, part of this lush life
Buying some flowers for my lush wife
Stepping outside with a bouquet in hand
I see my man, still living life according to his own plan
Thinking of what I could say fast
He doesn't care what I say, but needs some quick cash
He got a fuller beard, I got a fuller stache
Gave him a 5 for the present and our collective past
I was just jazzed he recognized me
My ride home I realized what our chance meetings provided me

The third time I met Metal Mike I was 39
Took a selfie with him to mark the time
The third time I met Metal Mike I was just fine
He lived his life and I lived mine
