The Legendary Ten Seconds - The Conqueror's Prophecy

Oh pity the plight of the youngest son
Prince Henry was born to be no one
With three elder brothers who came before
A life in the church was all that lay in store

Prince Henry was not content with his lot
And the conqueror prophesied and said worry not
“Let thine elder brothers go before thee
For you will be greater just wait and see”

William on his death bed did declare
For Robert there's Normandy I think that's fair
William Rufus in England crowned
To Henry my youngest I give ten thousand pound

His brothers came together in pretence of peace
To their youngest brother their fury unleashed
At Mont-St-Michael Henry made a stand
And was cast away from that land

Let your elder brothers go before
For you will be so much more
Weep not my boy you will be a king
And the prophecy in his ears did ring

Then lo and behold William Rufus is dead
Killed by Walter Tirel so it is said
To Westminster then Henry did ride
To be crowned king with Matilda as his bride

His brother Robert claimed England as his right
He landed with an army ready to fight
The brother's gave the kiss of peace
But Robert''s ill ways still did not cease

As the ruler of Normandy Robert did fail
For anarchy and disorder did prevail
To Henry the first the church did appeal
To restore peace with his sword of steel
In battle Robert was defeated at last
And then into prison he was cast
Prince Henry was now duke and king
And the prophecy in his ears did ring
