The Hugeness - The Desert

His face is covered again
In all of the dust and all of the sweat

Rolls its way into his eyes
It does every time, he's not surprised

Home lost its meaning long ago
Heat from the road
Is the only warmth that he knows

But what he knows isn't enough
Is it too late to turn around?
Ride into the night
Or make another trip to town?

Waiting for him is a bed
A roof overhead
A place to repent

Brass on the handle is dull
The turn and the pull
Step through the

Lightning rains down from the sky
A new man it strikes
Free from his crimes

Sweat turned to tears turned to cries
A chance to survive
The gift of new life

Face on the ground
Smell of dirt again
Starts to catch his breath
Starts to feel its not the end

But the end is very real
And I don't have much time left to go
