McKenzie James - The Flood

I've written many songs that you have heard before.
But all those songs can do you no harm
But the one I wrote, the one I sing to you my doll
Is the only one that I want to sing of now
It's a resting place, a safe nest to call my own my home
The old emptiness where I feel the flood
Replaced with Water now that run so cool so deep within my veins
Filling my body with love
Fall is upon us and we've been here now for some time
And time's aware and it begins to take it's toll
On what we've built, we've spent, the walls that we have restored
Wanna see them tumble down, doesn't want to see them grow
And there's the rub the crux that thing that bends and folds our fears
Into a hopeless prayer that we keep on repeat
The foil, we try so hard, the uncontrolled
Whispers of better life, a greater lie, the great unknown
There is a restlessness inside my heart my soul
Yes it's uneasy now when I can't call you home
We place the blame on every single thing we've known
And all the futures though we've yet to cast that stone
I've written many songs that you have heard before
But all those songs, they can do you no harm
But the one I wrote, the one I bring to you my doll
Is the only one that I want to sing of now
