T.E.V. - The Life

My Passion speaks louder than I ever could scream
Ain't a thing in this world that could silence my dreams
What it is or what it seems, whether a black or if it's green
Whether I rap or if I sing, or spit poetry
Pouring me out with all of your doubt
I go without fear leaning on my ear, can't you hear?
(Trying to appeal to my peers)
But I seem to think ahead of them by seven years
No cheers, don't drink beer or go out til I hear roosters crow, but you know?
I don't judge cause you like to party mo', sniff some blow
I'll just kick it here rolling dro, smoke my load, download
An E-book or two, read and toke,
Laugh like a joke while you choke on ignorance
They feed you through the fence, keep you wired
Fry your brain cells now so you'll never claim hired
What they desire, to catch fire to the youth
At the roots, why you think they push goofs that just waste time in the booth
Persuade you that it's cool, forget school
And knowing who pulls the strings of everything
Laws may keep the people away but make 'em pay
Now-a-days

The life, the Life you're given, If you're white, then you're forgiven
No crime, no time, you're safe, you're fine
The Life, the Life we're given, cause I'm black I am born sinning
We fight, well we try, blue red lights we all die

Speaking my mind about the times but y'all just think I'm trying to rhyme
I tell y'all every time truth's right along the line
Stop letting them make you blind, take the time to see the crime
Of society's human life, it ain't right
But who am I as a blackened guy to know anything about rights?
I mean Am I wrong?
That racist song. I'll take a knee, no longer owned
Sends chills up your bones now that we're able to read the wrongs
Dethroned, no supremacy
If all lives matters then why are we intimidating?
We the people you refer to as stepping stools
Killed and cooked your food, give us the feet to eat
And you wonder why distrust runs deep
You claim this the land of the free, but when will it be that for me?
Don't piss on me and tell me it's rain
What about Koryn Gaines? Sandra? Say her name!
Don't shame me for wanting equality
Blame yourself for giving Brock Turner help
(He's just a boy) So what about Tamir Rice?
But I'm supposed to get over that right?

The life, the Life you're given, If you're white, then you're forgiven
No crime, no time, you're safe, you're fine
The Life, the Life we're given, cause I'm black I am born sinning
We fight, well we try, blue red lights we all die

Don't run into police, death sentence guaranteed, don't believe?
Read the news they don't show on t.v. read and weep
Compare contrast to the one had dinner on two
Still alive to laugh
It's a different class, white or black
Don't tell that ain't the case, name the first thing you see
When you see my face on the news bodies shamed from the view
It's evil, too inappropriate for school
Well excuse me for curves, the nerve of folk
Take our culture then choke when it's too much
Took the dab and made it a joke
So you're evolving? Into what exactly us? That's funny, let's discuss
Guess it's true, you wanna be us
You see us, imitate, but at the same time demean us
Demonize our race but you love the taste of our plight
What a sight to see the oppressor try to look alike
Like a girl that swears off men, but looks just like a him
No offense to LGBT I do respect the truth you see
So honestly let's be real
Why is it okay to try and be the fake and kill the real?
Again, let's be real, why is it okay to be the fake and kill the real?

The life, the Life you're given, If you're white, then you're forgiven
No crime, no time, you're safe, you're fine
The Life, the Life we're given, cause I'm black I am born sinning
We fight, well we try, blue red lights we all die
