The Saving Pointe - The Old Man

So the storybook is in shambles now
I've built my house up inside the clouds
The old man comes knocking
But the doors are all locked
The look on his face
Strikes a chord in my heart
He's a tall tale and a demon
But I love him none-the-less
He tells me of his maiden
So that he can get his rest

"I heard your voice cry too many times
I saw the love fade before my eyes
I couldn't stop it if I tried
I heard the tides speak with the moon
I saw the sun softly kiss you
I wanted to take the chance
But I don't know a thing about romance"

He can't keep the memories inside
So I start to see the woman on his mind
The picture he painted of hair like gold
The sea could not imagine eyes so bold
A mind of invention, not one ill intention
And she was his
Misery draws up its warm tea
And speaks of missed opportunity
Solitude strolls right into the holes
That are left in his heart

He said
"I heard your voice cry too many times
I saw the love fade before my eyes
I couldn't stop it if I tried
I heard the tides speak with the moon
I saw the sun softly kiss you
I wanted to take the chance
But I don't know a thing about romance"

Darkness descends upon her grave
As she makes her way through the pearly gates
The man wipes the river from her face
He tells her of years he wish he had
And the way he wish he'd lived instead
But now together they'd forever rest

He said
"I heard your voice cry too many times
So I'm here to tell you it's all right
You are forever in my mind
I heard the chapel bells ring loud
I heard your voice let out a shout
I smile at you as we dance
You're all that I know about romance"
