Ben Park - Turtle Race

One, two, three
I saw a friend onstage
Singing a song we wrote on that day
A few years ago
We were both new in town back then
I was in school, they were paying rent
Ticking at our own metronomes
One hand's rocking faster than the other
I could feel like I'm still in the gutter
As they climb higher to the top
There's no envy on my part because
I chose to stop
And breathe for a while
Sometimes, life gets in the way
But I'm doing okay
See my end goal from many miles away
But I'm content in my own turtle race
Met a few new neighbors in town
Hoping that they'd stick around
Despite Nashville traffic
Who'da thought they'd get on live T.V.
They haven't been here as long as me
But why the heck does time even matter
One hand's rocking faster than the other
I could feel like I'm still in the gutter
As they climb higher to the top
There's no envy on my part because
I chose to stop
And breathe for a while
Sometimes, life gets in the way
But I'm doing okay
See my end goal from many miles away
But I'm content in my own turtle race
Let's breathe for a while
Sometimes, life gets in the way
But I'm doing okay
See my end goal from many miles away
But I'm content in my own turtle race
Yeah, I'm content in my own turtle race
But I'm content in my own turtle race
