Soul Unseen - To End My Day

This new-age brown liquor, deals the same ol’ pain
They sold me on different, but it all tastes the same
Its fancy-fine label, just can’t hide what’s inside
So I’ll bathe in this new brown liquor to end my day

That old-timey music, just gets my head right
When I’ve stumbled through the room, feeling lost in the night
And the sound of the song helps me find my way back in the dark
Through the maze to the muse, humbled, to end my day

You can wish to be wiser
But those shoes only take you so far
Back to the fire, you know nothing higher
Than tearing down people for just who they are.

The TV is on all night long, deception starts and fits
Talking heads scripted by spiders, call fallen faithless to commit
The bricks of our lives build their tower of lies and expose us with the blame
Unplug to defuse, anxious to end my day

They cursed and they cried, twice denied what they did not understand.
Was it surprising that this moralizing, just wasn’t in the plan?
A landslide filled the path and forced me to find a better way
To a quiet walk home, weary to end my day

But their bags are all empty
They just don’t realize that its gone
Seeing it through, in spite of what’s true
Is the last way to feel any power at all

I woke up this morning, lost inside what’s undone
As the threads come untied, and the colors all have run
A needle in hand to help stitch some honor back into this fray
A warm blanket for my soul, to end my day
A warm blanket for my soul, to end my day
