Caleb Caldwell - Why Does Every Day Feel Like the End of the World?

Why does every day feel like the end of the world?
I've been bracing for apocalypse and writing my will
Afraid of all the things that I can never control
Brought about by all the days that I would change if I could

I've got a lot of reasons to be afraid
But I'm feeling intimations of what could be
So leap into the shadows and find my hand
And I'll show you what I found of the promised land

Why does every day feel like the end of my life?
Like tomorrow is a war and there's no chance to survive
I try to tell my brain that there's no reason to hide
But it keeps coming up with ways to make me scared as a child

I've got a lot of reasons to be afraid
But I'm feeling intimations of what could be
So leap into the shadows and find my hand
And I'll show you what I found of the promised land

Why does every day get swallowed up in the night?
Like the shadows never cease to try to snuff out the light
But every day I'm here's another day it's survived
And every breath's another chance to fan the flames of the fire

It's easy to imagine how these things should be done
But in practice, every action is a race I can't run
So when the silence settles and the dread has begun
I will try to find the words that point my heart to the sun

I've got a lot of reasons to be afraid
But I'm feeling intimations of what could be
So leap into the shadows and find my hand
And I'll show you what I found of the promised land
