ContraVein - USA in 2020

Looking at myself
Looking in the mirror
Looking at our flag
Wishing I could see clearer
I’ve never been one to speak out
But our country’s going south
Speculation, word of mouth
Manipulation, ain’t no doubt
Happiness, we’ve got a drought
Racist pricks, all for clout
I hear your voices, hear ‘em loud
If you’re with me give a shout
Workin’ for the Times
I be workin’ at night
Readin’ all the news
Like a sign of the times
We be lookin’ for a sign
While we standin’ all the time
We be shining through the light
While we standin’ for our rights
I don’t ever speak up cuz I don’t ever wanna slip up
Never been a racist but I still don’t wanna slip up
Still on Instagram, bitches want their clicks up
Sittin’ there like “damn, there’s better things to fix up”
I’ve been living life, trynna be more positive
Here in July, my opinion is relative
Because by the time, release date is tentative
Everything could change, a whole new narrative
Everything is fluid like this flow that I be doin’
But when I’m talking USA, we like lighter fluid
Looking at myself
Looking in the mirror
Looking at our flag
Wishing I could see clearer
I’ve never been one to speak out
But our country’s going south
Speculation, word of mouth
Manipulation, ain’t no doubt
Happiness, we’ve got a drought
Racist pricks, all for clout
I hear your voices, hear ‘em loud
If you’re with me give a shout
One little spark and you see where we’re at
Our history is dark, we were headed on a path
But it’s time to look back give our president a smack
Tough I don’t talk, you know I’ve got your back
Isn’t it clear that AllLivesMatter?
Privilege exists, no need to flatter
Racism persists, can’t you see a pattern?
Time to prioritize, BlackLivesMatter
#ALM people trynna feel like they all equal
While they messin’ up the facts making people turn all lethal
Lookin’ at the civil war, like the people want a sequel
They be lookin’ fore score, slavery yeah they want legal
Lookin’ at myself and I know that we ain’t perfect
But we gotta find a middle ground something that’s correct
Yeah we gotta look around, mutual respect
Let ‘em do their jobs, serve and protect
Reform is needed, only cuz we pleaded
But when you resist arrest yeah you can’t complain
Yeah you can’t complain about how you were treated
Make the world fair, now I’m completed
Looking at myself
Looking in the mirror
Looking at our flag
Wishing I could see clearer
I’ve never been one to speak out
But our country’s going south
Speculation, word of mouth
Manipulation, ain’t no doubt
Happiness, we’ve got a drought
Racist pricks, all for clout
I hear your voices, hear ‘em loud
If you’re with me give a shout
