Gerry Limpic - Vision

N a vision
I saw in the dusty heat of the day
An empty street in a roman town
In a time so far away
Though my eyes did strain
To see through
The fiery mid day glare
I thought i heard the distant around
Of voices in the air
Like wild blood thirsty scavengers in a frenzy for the kill
A crowd was mocking a wounded man
Oh he looked so pitiful
But on his face there was no anger
Through the dirt and blood
And though i didnt believe it

I swear his were the eyes of love
But it was my shame that tore his garment
And my guilt that pushed him down
And my pride that mocked his meekness
With a thorny crown

In a furry they passed on their
Way to the place of the skull
But though this man had done no wrong
He would die a criminal
His face was ripped with anguish
But he did not cry in pain
And as the crowd pushed in to watch
The silent lamb was slain
A scandalous obscenity
The foolish mockers cried
This naked man thinks hes a savior
Gods been crucified
But though their foolish eyes were blind
As they watched him slowly die
Forgiveness whispered from his lips and love was in his eyes

But it was my eyes that saw the anguish
And my ears that heard him cry
And my voice that cried out loud
To let him die

And my hands that drove the spikes
And my arms that lifted the wood
And my sin
That made him shed his innocent blood
He was innocent
And as the vision faded there was something that remained
It seemed that something in my soul had suddenly changed
I felt that i had been their
I saw crosses on a hill
And though it may sound strange to say
I feel feel responsible
