Gimson & Rickerby - Wake Me When It's Over

Look
Dumbfounded we stay grounded through connection
Introspection past patterns and cultural archetypes
Who art the type to write their wrongs when power is receded
We needed empathy so borrowed shoes so we can feel it
Power poisons people and people poison planets
And when progress plateaus we owe a debt we cannot manage
A damaged pound of flesh from the breasts of Eves daughters
The collective suicide provided a sacrificial slaughter
For the one percent and their protected demented authors
Who rewrote history for a new world order
That the Common man once fought for and lost then most of us forgot
Villains and fashionable victims a story that got washed
And repainted in the name of conformity
Normally we frame it and hang it as the main bit
In the centre of the wall for all eyes to see
Married to the cause it became obligatory
Mandated propaganda a child's nativity
On TV 24/7 programs program you
To be benevolent and obey it is not okay to ask questions
On token gestures they're suggesting to stop our transgressions
And clawing back control of our own lives
Dumbfounded we stay dumb and grounded through a lack of connection
And no introspection entertained and ignorantly blissful
Everything is over I don't wanna know
Wake me when it's over I just wanna go
To a place in my mind to define
The direction that I need to find
Pay no mind
To their lies
Addicted to living lives that are busy and conflicted
Restricted unconsciously reactive bitch fits
I live with a delusion in a society that gets rich with
A cascade of Ponzi schemes California dreaming
But who am I in a state of being without doing
I radicalised my ego the more they pushed me into pursuing
What my truest self just didn't want to do
And hey presto welcome to the shit show we are now in
Consisting of cultural norms and mass psychosis's
And at times I'm conscious and I notice it
But my egoic shell isn't fully broken yet
So I reach the same door and each and every time I open it
Deluded by illusions and blinded by the lights
Conditioned by the mirrors that tell me what to like
And what to be like by doing exactly what I'm told to do
But who am I in a state of being without doing
Am I seen, do I matter, am I worthy
Sounding just like them no wonder no one ever heard me
They'll never see my worth if I remain to be controlled
By the old paradigms and a crooked cultures hold on me
Do I dare to be bold and see the world what it really is
Or sleepwalk for eternity
Best is the enemy of good
The proof is in the pudding or have I misunderstood
Let's face it I'm probably wrong but yet we all are
Everything is over I don't wanna know
Wake me when it's over I just wanna go
To a place in my mind to define
The direction that I need to find
Pay no mind
To their lies
Oh I've been here before
This place I can't ignore
Empires burning while they reign on down
Too much for us to take
It's time for us to break
These lies that hold us down
Has the past made me bitter or better I penned in a letter
To my future self whilst on a path of conscious awakening
Whilst remaining dependent on the same system that exploits me
In a manipulative relationship
What do I make of it?
I took a solipsistic take on it
Which is great if you're the empath in the relationship
The trouble is I'm the narcissist this time
