Lil Fytr - Wake Up

They make us wear masks to make us all villains
In the name of making love reach higher than the ceiling
But when I look like a guy who might rob a few million
Why would you love me when I might be concealing
A ticking time bomb of a virus inside me
A virus so deadly it's killed the economy
A virus so deadly it's murdered our sanity
A virus so deadly it's massacred Christian charity
Passive avoidance ain't love—1 John 3:16
Sacrificing my life for you is—risking disease
To love you and comfort you and help you with needs
Isolating people ain't love—especially when healthy
God said being alone is not good--(Genesis) 2:18
But the media screams, "We need social distancing!"
And we wonder why mental health lines are so busy
The media doesn't know better than God—see
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
And learn to distinguish truth from lies
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
So you can fix them on Jesus Christ
Cuz if you've been lulled to sleep by the world's lies
How can you ever focus on Jesus Christ
They make us wear masks to make us all voiceless
If we could remove them we could prove we are joyless
"But voices spread moistness that holds diseases like toilets"
But it's always been true—and masks are pointless
Google it (see)--and know your homemade mask won't help
Except when it comes to the narrative the media wants to propel (fear)
But wait—if you google that it'll be censored to hell
And if people don't use brains it's where they'll eternally dwell
The media's disturbed—they're down with the sickness—yikes
They don't really care about the people who died
And they hardly care about the people who survive
They just care about getting clicks clicks online
So this is a plea to not stay asleep
It's why the beat is so loud—can we please
Start thinking with our minds—taking time to read
And not just blindly—logically and critically (as God created us to be)
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
And learn to distinguish truth from lies
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
So you can fix them on Jesus Christ
Cuz if you've been lulled to sleep by the world's lies
How can you ever focus on Jesus Christ
Now at this point it behooves me to say
That this virus is real—it's not a charade
People have died—lost loved ones—in these days
And I'm not diminishing pain when this song plays
But the media don't care—they're using our pain
To continue motivating us to be afraid ("wear your masks!")
They take the people this virus has taken away
And hatefully make them numbers—mere clickbait
When the victims of this virus deserve so much more
When the fam-lies of the victims deserve so much more
They deserve hugs and time and tears—not shut doors
They need your love—not your masks—so much more
We're prisoners of war, wearing muzzles in the grocery store
And the enemy strikes invisibly from Ireland to Ecuador
But there's a worse disease than this, you see
With a one hundred percent mortality rate since six thousand BC
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
And learn to distinguish truth from lies
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
So you can fix them on Jesus Christ
Cuz if you've been lulled to sleep by the world's lies
How can you ever focus on Jesus Christ
We're all so afraid of COVID-19
When the media says it—ya'll believe
But what if I told you of an even worse disease
That will kill you no matter how much TP you seize
Mankind has always rebelled against God's Word
Adam sinned first—now we're all cursed
To die from sin—Jesus made it reverse
If you trust Him you can have hope that COVID's not worse
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
And learn to distinguish truth from lies
Wake up—O sleeper—open your eyes
So you can fix them on Jesus Christ
Cuz if you've been lulled to sleep by the world's lies
How can you ever focus on Jesus Christ
