Justin C Ward - Why Should I

The last time that I read a book
All I remember was the time it took
The library didn't like it but I think I'm off the hook
Now people tell me how much better I look

My level of stress is so much less
Since I stopped looking at the press
Anything they can't make up they guess
They're trying to tell me the world's a mess

Don't get me started on the internet
I have to say without regret
They're the saddest people I've ever met
Everything's as big as it was ever going to get

So why should I buy magazines
It doesn't matter what they say or mean
Or who's the latest fashion queen
Now my mood's improved and all my thoughts are clean

Last time I listened to the radio
It was people in my ear that I wouldn't wanna know
24 hours of breakfast show
Commercial breakdown and ego

I see no need for my TV
It bears no relation to reality
Sitting there thinking how stupid can you be
Just as well I never paid the licence fee

And as for buying DVDs
Anything I want I can leech with ease
My channel is better than HMV's
I've saved a forest full of trees

A man came round with a wad of notes
He said, 'We're trying to canvas votes'
I said, 'Good god fetch the men in white coats
Let's find out if he sinks or floats

Then there was a couple of Holy Joes
I slammed the door on the big one's toes
He said, 'Jesus loves you', I said, 'Ask him how he knows'
'He;s never gonna come to any of my shows'

I don't think it's justified
To say it's social suicide
I just wanna stay at home and hide
And not hear about the world outside

I don't go to films plays
Concerts, musicals or ballets
Silly games my eyes just glaze
I wouldn't waste my Saturdays

Why should I, when I've got you
And all the stuff we love to do
