Tommy Brown - Worn Vices, Torn Hearts

I've been putting in the work
This is more than practice
Origins of Earth go back past Atlantis
Endless catastrophe got us praying like mantis
Inequality is getting frantic
Bar codes, phones, loans
No hope when those fat cats know
They can ram it down our throats
Now, there's a lump in my throat

Presidents groping, hesitant voting
We live on automatic mode barely coping
But we wouldn't know by that emoji that they posted
I hope my points have been duly noted
Don't wanna disappoint but we've been truly demoted
If we don't know this
Take my words as quoted advice
I've learned that eyes tell a good lie
And that lives can be saved
Even when it's hopeless
But while we focus on the process of protests and sanctions
Did we even notice that mansion bought by the bigot we voted for?

Focus on the national borders
Hopeless foraging
Forgotten origins
This is our life today
Global warming
Nuclear Jäger bombs
Pouring down on systems of tyranny
Like that in Syria
Where those terrorists are from
I don't know what
Our life has become
Little thought for the little man
Of course this leaves them bitter and angry
National standing leaves us enemies
To the ones we handed guns to in the first place
And that's standard
Right-wing media has got us singing for the fight
Lets attack those infidel scum
Forgetting the rights of the innocent by-standers
"Fuck that", they scream, "he's got a turban on"
So the bombs keep falling
Tumbling from the heavens
Geo-political war is calling
It's been calling since 9/11
But who's fault is it?
Military steel protecting poppy fields
Our hopes are diminished
When the media tells us how to feel
Years and years of tears and tears
Societies fears played out for real
